Let me tell you a story…

Once upon a time, in a rainy city in the northwest of England, lived a young, green journalist.  One day, his kindly old editor gave him his first solo assignment, to interview an elderly couple about a ‘lost-love’ refound.  Eagerly, the young journalist set off up the motorway to the outskirts of Oldham, where he promptly located the address.  What could possibly go wrong?

As soon as he laid a finger on the garden gate, a hound of ferocious proportions leapt from behind a long row of bushes, and with snarling growl and bared teeth it drove the young reporter back.  Time and time again did the brave journalist attempt to reach the front door, behind which lay his story, but the hound was relentless in its ferocity.

Eventually, admitting defeat the reporter phoned the newsroom.  After all, a journalist of any experience would not have been able to overcome such a beast - would he?  Ah, but a wise old hack would not have let his colleagues in on the failure, and would have returned home with something fabricated from the vague comments of neighbours if necessary, rather than return empty handed.

And so, on returning to the editorial suite, the journalist was presented by a two foot long bone, made of cardboard and newspaper, lovingly crafted by his fellow reporters.  From that day forward, the reporter was known as Dogman, and he never came back to base without a story again.

Twenty years on, Dogman Publications is born, aiming to bring you the best in fantasy fiction in top quality print and on the net.  A Shadow Falls is its first release.  Dogman would like to thank his old colleagues on the Weekly News, were it not for whom Dogman Publications would not exist.
